Danish prospect Holger Rune has broken into the top 50 of the ATP Rankings for the first time this week.

Rune claimed his maiden ATP Tour title at the BMW Open by American Express in Munich without dropping a set and surges up to 45th in the world, a jump of 25 places.

The 19-year-old only broke the Top 100 of the ATP Rankings in January.

Rune also claimed his first top ten win when he upset top seed Alexander Zverev in the second round of the championships.

He celebrated his 19th birthday during the tournament, dropping just two games in a stunning quarter-final win over Emil Ruusuvuori on his big day.

German hope Oscar Otte couldn’t stop Rune in the semi-finals but he would do enough to also make a move in the rankings, reaching a new peak at 53rd,

Rune overcame Botic van de Zandschulp in the final after the Dutchman retired early in the match while leading 4-3.

Van de Zandschulp is the other big mover on the list, jumping up nine places to occupy 31st.

Before a disappointing end to the BMW Open in Munich, van de Zandschulp knocked out Casper Ruud in an impressive straight-sets win.

He would also battle past Miomir Kecmanovic, who took Novak Djokovic to three sets at the Serbian Open the week before but had to retire from the final suffering from severe chest pains.

The Dutchman’s 31st ranking is his career-best to date.

Another player reaching a career-high is Estoril Open winner Sebastian Baez who climbs to 40th.

Baez moves up 19 places after a stirring run to the final that included victories over 2018 winner Joao Sousa, former World No. 3 Marin Cilic and defending champion Albert Ramos-Vinolas.

The 21-year-old Argentine beat US fifth seed Frances Tiafoe to claim his maiden ATP Tour title on Sunday.

Tiafoe also rises to a career-high 25th on the rankings and is joined in the top 30 by compatriot Sebastian Korda who rose seven places to become the new World No 30.

Former World No 3 Grigor Dimitrov moved back into the top 20 after a recent resurgence.

There has been no change to the top ten.
